  • Family Promise provides essential services to families with children who are temporarily without homes, with the goal of helping them regain their own housing better equipped to remains independent. Thirteen area congregations offer their facilities on a weekly basis throughout the year to host overnight temporarily homeless families with children.   During the day, parents go to work and children attend their usual schools.  At the Day Center, the case manager assists participants as they job-search and/or pursue job training, repair their credit if needed, and receive financial management training.  With their daily needs met, families save for security deposits and seek new housing.  During our host weeks, Christ Church volunteers set-up and break-down temporary sleeping quarters, prepare meals, and provide hospitality for the evening and overnight.  Our goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment for our guests as they prepare to re-launch into independent housing. 

  • Teams of volunteers provide and serve meals at St. Mark's Center for Community Renewal in neighboring Keansburg. This center provides over 3,500 meals monthly.  Additionally the pantry serves approximately 4,000 individuals each year.  Over 350 families utilize one or more services provided by this Community Center. 

  • The Calico Cat Thrift Shop sells used clothing and household goods with all proceeds donated to those in need in Middletown, and surrounding areas. The Calico Cat Pantry provides household goods, personal care items, paper products, cleaning supplies and food to those in need, free of charge. Christ Church members collect different items of need throughout the year for donation to the Thrift Store and Pantry.  

  • The Seamen's Church Institute delivers gifts to mariners who are overseas for the holidays. Generous donations of varying items are collected throughout the year from our parishioners and delivered twice annually. 

  • Our volunteers provide lunches and snacks for ASLAN Youth Ministries Day Camp, an organization specific for at risk youth. Monetary donations from our parish are also collected and given to this organization to assist with operational costs.

    We provide, from generous parishioner donations, over 50 FULL Thanksgiving turkey dinners. Generous Christ Church volunteers and donors contribute, sort, and transport the full dinners to those at St. Mark's Community Center for Renewal.

    At Christmas time, we collect new toys, stuffed animals and winter clothing to donate to Middletown Helps Its Own. Knowing that we can help bring the spirit of Christmas love and warmth to more families is a reminder of the joy of sharing with others! 

  • We generously donate to the Episcopal Relief & Development Fund, which assists to rebuild after disasters and empower people to create lasting solutions to combat poverty, hunger and disease. Their programs help impact the lives of approximately 3 million people around the world. 

  • Christ Church's youth group, along with other parishioners annually participate in Red Bank's CROP Walk to bring awareness to the issues of poverty and hunger, and helps raise money and food to bring to those who need it most. Each year since 2000, the CROP Walk raises over $100,000 towards hunger, poverty, displacement and disaster.
