Our youth group consists of our teens in seventh grade or older. This group focuses on how teens are called to do Christ's work here in Monmouth County and beyond.
We gather and grow with our multiple service projects and outreach events.
In the spirit of service, many of our teens have volunteered in Family Promise's Cardboard Box City, Stop Hunger Now CROP Walk, as well as parish wide events including the Thanksgiving & Christmas Ingathering, Calico Cat Fair, Pancake Supper, Advent Spaghetti Dinner, Formal Dinner, and Cookie Walk -- just to name a few.
Successful VBS 2018!
Many thanks to all who helped make VBS a huge (and huger than expected!) success!
Father Bill and Paul Dawson used their performance talents in the engaging daily skits.
Paul did double duty and also taught the fourth and fifth grade class. I am also grateful to Nancy Coffin who taught music class and Vicki Schmelzer who headed up the 2nd and 3rd grade class.
Judy Forys lent us her artistic talent in the arts and craft room, co-teaching in that classroom with me.
Judy and I were fortunate to have three hard-working teen assistants in our classroom: Juliet Rossnagel, Emily Strom, and Judy's granddaughter Grace Wilson.
I also appreciate Samantha Rossnagel, Samantha Wolf, Amelia Tuttle and Lucy Tuttle's hard work volunteering in the lively preschool class, when their schedules permitted.
Behind the scenes, Christine Ruland and Linda Malanowski worked very hard to handle the intensive administrative work for VBS week, such as tracking and compiling registrations, creating camper certificates, and designing a closing program. Many thanks also to Dan Thurman and Michelle Cervone for their hard work in creating and troubleshooting the online registration camper form and for promoting VBS online. I am also grateful to our hard-working partners at Middletown Reformed Church and to all our parents who committed to camp and shuttled their children back and forth every morning to camp. All of these hard-working and talented people made camp a joyful and lively success! Theresa Tuttle
September 9th 2018 is the First Day of Church School 2018-2019
Our church school is where our youngest disciples are created! Children's ministry is the foundation for spiritual development. Here at Christ Church, we utilize activities, crafts, play and media to learn about God, all while having fun!
Godly Play classroom is for children preschool through first grade. In this classroom we utilize the Montessori approach to teaching; we play with the language of God and God's people, sacred stories, parables, liturgical action and silence. Through the community of children gathered to play, we receive the deepest invitation of all --- the invitation to come and play with God.
The Holy Moly curriculum is for children of second, third and fourth grade. Here our lessons include videos and crafts to help us explore and learn about the Old and New Testament in the Bible.
Our Spark program is for our fifth and sixth graders. Lessons are lead as Bible Study with a mix of fun activities. They will begin to better navigate, understand and interpret Bible stories and discover ways to incorporate them into daily life.
*There is a dedicated space for our children to gather and grow together in Ellwood Hall. Be sure to check out our Kids' Corner!
