Schedule &  for lent

  • Morning Prayer, 7:30 am, Monday through Friday in the Historic Church
  • Lenten Study, Mondays at 7:00 pm in the Undercroft, with simple supper at 6:30 pm. This Lent, come to the desert; to a place of silence, solitude, and quiet surrender where we look for God’s transforming power. We will use a video prepared by ChurchNext, a store house of great formation material specifically designed for Episcopal parishes. This series offers a positive alternative to the traditional “seven deadly sins” often discussed in Lent by examining instead the 7 Christian virtues of purity, moderation, charity, diligence, patience, kindness, and humility. This series will consist of five consecutive Monday evenings, beginning March 2 at 7:00 pm. A group discussion will follow the video. Those who are able, please join us ahead of time (6:30 pm) for a simple supper of soup, salad and bread. There is no cost for this program, but please RSVP with the church office so that enough food is prepared.
  • Saturday Morning Quiet Hour, 10 am Saturdays - On Saturdays at 10 AM in the Historic Church, an hour will be set aside for meditation, contemplation and prayer.  A different style of Meditation will be explored each week.
  • Catechumenate - These sessions include instruction in the faith, a time of silence, prayers for the catechumens by other baptized persons who are present, and prayers and the laying of a hand on the head of each catechumen by a Priest.  This period culminates as part of the Easter Vigil service (Saturday evening) where the candidates names are written in a large book and the celebrant prays, "God grant that they may also be written in the Book of Life." Baptism and Reaffirmation of Baptismal Vows follow. Please see Fr. Michael if interested in participating.
  • Reconciliation (Confession) - The half-joking take on Confession in the Episcopal Church is that “anyone may make a confession, no one has to, and some probably should!” We call the sacrament the Rite of Reconciliation.  This is a period where you are encouraged to unburden yourselves from anything in your past that may be holding you back from living faithfully, joyously and free. It is for you. It is not judgmental. It is LIBERATING! This is private, confidential and positive! Please see Father Michael if interested in this rite as part of a Lenten journey (this can also be made at any point during the year).
